The true question is how to bring about change in institutional climate and culture. The idea of increasing faculty, staff and student diversity by creating a critical mass is a reasonable course of action aimed at changing the toxic culture, which students have recently begun publicly protesting. The diversification of K-12 and higher education campuses would theoretically increase understanding and tolerance of diversity, increase the level of comfort for students of color, provide much needed mentorship to all students by facility and staff of color, and much more. But the true question is how to go about doing this? What are the possible obstacles to this process?
